Most tours are a week or two with the group, from five days in Havana to three weeks in Australia and New Zealand, with a guide and a coach, three kosher meals a day and a Shabbat with the local community. The two African safaris are private, for your own party. You fly in, we meet you, and the touring, the hotels and the meals are arranged for you. More than 900 guests on our tours and cruises since 2022.

India: the Golden Triangle and Jewish heritage
Sixteen days from Udaipur to Mumbai: the palaces and forts of Rajasthan, the Taj Mahal and Old Delhi, then the old Jewish quarter of Cochin, the Kerala backwaters and the synagogues of Mumbai. An 11-day option ends in Delhi.
Shabbat is kept twice: with Chabad in Pushkar, and at the Paradesi Synagogue in Cochin. The group eats at the Chabad restaurants in Delhi, Pushkar and Mumbai, and the domestic flights and the Indian e-visa are included.

Australia and New Zealand: a tour and a cruise, Auckland to Sydney
Twenty-one days: four touring Auckland and the North Island, with the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Hobbiton and a Shabbat in Auckland, then fourteen nights aboard Holland America's Noordam by way of the New Zealand fjords, Tasmania and Melbourne, and two days in Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
Every meal is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin, cooked for the group by an executive kosher chef, with a dining area of our own on board. Three Shabbatot are kept together, one on land in Auckland and two at sea.

The Arctic · February 2027
Lapland: eight days in the Arctic winter
Eight days based in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland, on the Arctic Circle: snowmobiles across frozen lakes, husky and reindeer sleds, an icebreaker on the frozen sea in Sweden, the frozen waterfalls of Korouoma, and an evening out to look for the Northern Lights.
All seven nights are at Hotel Rovaniemi, and every meal is cooked there fresh by our own mashgiach and cook, with packed lunches for the day trips. Arctic clothing is issued on arrival. Shabbat is at the hotel with the group, with a gentle walk to the Arcticum museum, and there is a minyan three times a day.

Japan: ten days from Tokyo to Hiroshima
Ten days with the group and an English-speaking guide: Tokyo, Mount Fuji and the lakes of Hakone, the temples and gardens of Kyoto, Hiroshima and the island of Miyajima, and Osaka.
Four nights are at the InterContinental The Strings in Tokyo and five at the ANA Crowne Plaza in Kobe, with the bullet train between. Dinners are catered at Chabad of Tokyo and at the Ohel Shelomo Synagogue in Kobe, and packed lunches go with you on touring days. Shabbat is in Kobe, with Japan's oldest Jewish community.

Panama in July
Eight days in Panama in July, when schools in the US, Canada and Israel are out for the summer, so school-age children can come.
You see the Panama Canal at the Miraflores Locks, the old quarter of Casco Viejo, the rainforest and Gatun Lake, an Emberá village on the Chagres River, the Caribbean coast and the countryside of San Carlos. All seven nights are at the JW Marriott in Panama City, so you unpack once. Dinners are at Panama City's kosher restaurants, and Shabbat is with the community at Ahavat Sion.

Peru: Machu Picchu, Cusco and the Amazon
Ten days from Lima on the Pacific to the Amazon rainforest: Cusco, the old capital of the Incas, Machu Picchu by train, the salt terraces and Inca ruins of the Sacred Valley, and two nights at a lodge on the Madre de Dios River. The October 2026 departure is full.
Breakfast and dinner are under Chabad, with dinners at the Lima Synagogue and Chabad Cusco and a mashgiach at the lodge, and Shabbat is in Cusco with Chabad. The three flights inside Peru and the train to Machu Picchu are included.

Portugal: Sephardic heritage from Lisbon to Porto
Nine days across three cities: Lisbon and Sintra, the medieval synagogue of Tomar and the Crypto-Jewish community of Belmonte, then Porto, its azulejos and its wine country, with a return through Coimbra.
Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, full board, with packed lunches on touring days. Shabbat is kept in Porto with the local kehillah at the city's own synagogue, and a tour leader travels with the group for the whole trip, with local guides in every place.

Morocco: the imperial cities, Casablanca to Marrakech
Ten days with the group and an English-speaking guide: the imperial cities of Rabat, Meknes and Fes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, Marrakech and its Mellah, the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, and the Ourika Valley and the Agafay Desert below the Atlas Mountains.
Every meal is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin; where a hotel or restaurant cannot meet our standard, our own mashgiach and cook travel with the group. Shabbat is in Marrakech, kept at the 500-year-old Lazama Synagogue in the Mellah.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi: a week in the Emirates
Seven days based in Dubai with the group and a veteran English-speaking guide: old Dubai along the Creek, a desert safari with dinner at a Bedouin camp, the Museum of the Future and a sunset yacht cruise in Dubai Marina, and a day in Abu Dhabi for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Presidential Palace and the Louvre.
The group stays in one five-star hotel in Dubai for the week. Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, a minyan is arranged three times a day, and Shabbat is kept with the group in Dubai, with an evening at Global Village after Havdalah.

Vietnam: ten days from Saigon to Ha Long Bay
Ten days from south to north with the group and an English-speaking guide: Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, Hoi An and the Ba Na Hills, Hanoi, the karst country of Ninh Binh and a day on Ha Long Bay, with four more nights in the mountains of Sapa as an extension.
Two nights are at the Rex in Ho Chi Minh City, four at Almanity Hoi An and three at Fraser Suites in Hanoi, with both domestic flights included. Dinners in Saigon and Hanoi are at Chabad, packed lunches go with you on touring days, and Shabbat is in Hoi An with the local Chabad community.

Kosher tours in Europe: Montenegro and Dubrovnik
Eight days in the Balkans: the Adriatic coast at Budva, the Bay of Kotor and Perast, Skadar Lake, a day across the border in Dubrovnik, and the mountains and lakes of Durmitor National Park.
Four nights are on the coast in Budva and three in Podgorica, the capital, where the group spends Shabbat with the Jewish community. A tour manager travels with the group, with specialist local guides in each place. The next departure is September 6 to 13, 2027.

Scotland: Edinburgh, the Highlands and Jewish Glasgow
Eight days based at one hotel in Glasgow: Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond, Glencoe and the harbor town of Oban, Glasgow's Garnethill and Giffnock synagogues, and a visit to Auchentoshan Distillery.
Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, with a kosher welcome dinner on arrival, and Shabbat is kept together at Garnethill, within walking distance of the hotel. The tour is not currently scheduled; tell us you are interested.
Kosher Scottish Whisky Tour: Edinburgh, the Highlands and Glasgow

Lithuania and Poland: Vilnius, Kraków and Warsaw
Eight days through the Jewish history of Lithuania and Poland: Vilnius, once called the Jerusalem of Lithuania, with Shabbat kept there, Trakai and Kaunas, then Lublin, Kraków and the Kazimierz Jewish Quarter, the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial, and Warsaw.
Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, full board throughout, and where there is no kosher restaurant nearby a cook and mashgiach travel with the group. An English-speaking guide leads the touring, and a short flight joins Vilnius to Warsaw. The next departure is to be announced.

Havana: Old Havana, Viñales and Cuba's Jewish heritage
Five days based in Havana with a local English-speaking guide: the plazas, museums and vintage cars of Old Havana, Cuba's oldest congregations, a day in the tobacco country of Viñales Valley, and the Jewish Cemetery at Guanabacoa.
Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin at Chateau Blanc, Havana's kosher-certified facility, under International Kosher Mehadrin supervision. The tour is not currently scheduled for a fixed departure.

Cape Town and a Kruger safari
Eight days run privately for your own party, not a group departure: four nights in Cape Town for Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula, with Shabbat at one of the oldest synagogues in the Southern Hemisphere, then three nights at a small lodge in the Thornybush Game Reserve, with the option of a day on the Panorama Route above the Blyde River Canyon.
Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, under the supervision of the Johannesburg Beit Din: private kosher catering in Cape Town, and a privately locked kosher kitchen with a kosher-trained chef at the lodge. The flight from Cape Town to the Kruger area is included.

Victoria Falls and the Lower Zambezi: a private safari
Eight days arranged around your own dates: Victoria Falls from Mukwa River Lodge on the Zambezi, then a tented camp in Lower Zambezi National Park for game drives, bush walks, canoe excursions and leopard tracking.
Every meal is self-catered and Glatt Mehadrin, prepared in new equipment in a separate kitchen at each lodge, under the supervision of the Johannesburg Beit Din. Shabbat is kept privately at the first lodge, above the river.

Jewish heritage on the way: from Cochin and Kobe to Kraków, Porto and Marrakech
Every tour spends Shabbat with a Jewish community, and most visit the places where Jewish life has left its mark. Our Jewish heritage tours are collected on their own page.
- Cochin and Mumbai: Shabbat at the Paradesi Synagogue in Cochin's Jew Town, the synagogues of Chendamangalam and Paravur, and in Mumbai the Knesseth Eliyahoo and Magen David synagogues.
- Kobe: Ohel Shelomo, founded in the early 1900s by Jews from Iraq and Syria, is the oldest synagogue in Japan still in use. During the Second World War the city was a haven for the refugees saved by the Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara. Shabbat ends with a walk through the old Jewish houses of Kitano.
- Panama City: a day with the Jewish community's institutions and neighborhoods, Friday night services at Ahavat Sion, and Shabbat lunch at the community's table. The place guide: kosher Panama.
- Kotor and Dubrovnik: the Jewish cemetery of Kotor, and the Dubrovnik Synagogue, one of the oldest Sephardic synagogues still in use, from the 15th century, with the Jewish museum beside it.
- Nikšić, Montenegro: the Operation Velvet memorial at the Kapino Polje airfield, through which the new Israeli Air Force flew Spitfires from Czechoslovakia to Israel in 1948.
- Lisbon, Tomar, Belmonte and Porto: the medieval synagogue of Tomar, the Crypto-Jewish community of Belmonte, and a Shabbat with the kehillah at the Kadoorie Mekor Haim Synagogue in Porto. The place guide: kosher Portugal.

Kosher on the road, at every meal
Every meal on every tour is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin. How it reaches the table depends on the country, and each tour's page says exactly how.
In India the group eats at the Chabad restaurants in Delhi, Pushkar and Mumbai, and on the other days dinner comes fresh from the kosher kitchen in Delhi, under the supervision of Chabad of Delhi. On the Australia and New Zealand trip an executive kosher chef cooks for the group, with a dining area of our own aboard the Noordam. In Japan, dinners are catered at Chabad of Tokyo and at Ohel Shelomo in Kobe, and breakfast is prepared under our mashgiach in our own dining room at the hotel. In Lapland our own mashgiach and cook travels with the group and cooks every meal fresh at the hotel in Rovaniemi. In Vietnam dinners are at Chabad of Ho Chi Minh City and Chabad of Hanoi, and Shabbat is with the Chabad community in Hoi An. In Portugal the group is on full board, with packed lunches on touring days, in hotels chosen for their willingness to meet our kashrut needs. In Morocco our own mashgiach and cook travel with the group wherever a hotel or restaurant cannot meet our standard. In Dubai breakfast and dinner are in the hotel dining room, with a barbecue dinner at the desert camp and a dinner in Abu Dhabi. In Panama City the group eats dinner at the city's kosher restaurants: meat, dairy, Mediterranean and Italian. In Scotland a kosher welcome dinner opens the week and Shabbat is fully catered in Glasgow. In Lithuania and Poland the group is on full board, and a cook and mashgiach travel with it wherever there is no kosher restaurant nearby. In Havana every meal is at Chateau Blanc, under International Kosher Mehadrin supervision. In South Africa kosher catering is delivered in Cape Town, and the safari lodge has a privately locked kosher kitchen, under the Johannesburg Beit Din. In Zambia meals are self-catered at both lodges, in new equipment and a separate kitchen, under the same Beit Din. In Montenegro dinner has kosher catering each evening, under the supervision of Chabad of Budva and Chabad of Podgorica. In Japan and Montenegro, lunch on touring days is a packed lunch. What a Kosher Travelers tour includes
The list differs a little from tour to tour, and each page carries its own. These parts do not change.
- A guide
- An English-speaking guide who knows the country leads the touring; in Montenegro a tour manager travels with the group, with local guides in each place.
- Three kosher meals a day
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner, all Glatt Kosher Mehadrin. On touring days in Japan and Montenegro, lunch is packed.
- Transport and tickets
- A coach for the touring, and the entrance fee for every site on the itinerary.
- Hotels
- Every night's hotel, often one for the whole week, so you unpack as few times as the route allows.
- Shabbat
- A full Shabbat program with the local Jewish community: services, the meals and a rest day.
- Airport
- We meet you on arrival and take you to the hotel, and back to the airport on the last day.
Not included on any tour: flights, travel insurance and anything you buy along the way. On the Japan tour, staff tips are collected on the last day.
The pace
Who the tours suit, and how much walking there is
These are touring weeks: full days on foot at markets, temples, old towns and castles, with the coach in between. They suit couples, friends and solo travelers who are happy to walk for much of the day and keep to a group timetable. A guide to choosing one for the summer: kosher summer tours.
- In Japan, touring runs from about 9:00am to 6:00pm on most days
- In Panama the days are active, with a choice of a zipline or an aerial tram for anyone who prefers to sit
- In Montenegro the old towns are stone streets with some steps, and the group is at most 25 guests
- Shabbat is always a rest day
- Traveling on your own? A room of your own is a single supplement of $1,000 on the Japan and Panama tours
- The reservation form asks for a short health declaration, because some tours are more active than others

What a kosher tour costs, and how booking works
Tour prices are per person, sharing a double room, in US dollars: $6,800 for India, or $5,500 for its 11-day option, $8,900 for Australia and New Zealand, $4,500 for Panama, $6,500 for Lapland, $5,900 for Japan, $5,500 for Portugal, $5,900 for Morocco, $3,500 for Dubai and Abu Dhabi, $5,400 for Vietnam, with $2,000 more for its Sapa extension, $5,800 for Scotland, $6,175 for Cape Town and Kruger and $6,000 for the Victoria Falls safari. Peru is $6,500 and Montenegro $3,900.
The price covers the hotels, the kosher meals, the guide, the coach, the entrance fees and the Shabbat program. A reservation form and a deposit of $1,000 per person confirm your place, and the balance is due 120 days before departure. The cancellation terms are on each tour's page, and we strongly recommend travel insurance covering cancellation, medical care and luggage. Nothing is paid on this website.

Are kosher meals provided throughout the tour?
Yes. Every meal is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin: breakfast, lunch and dinner, catered by the local Jewish community or at kosher restaurants. Each tour's page says who supervises it.
Are these tours suitable for couples or solo travelers?
Yes. The tours suit couples, friends traveling together and travelers on their own. A room of your own carries a single supplement of $1,000 on the Japan and Panama tours.
Can a tour be arranged for a family or a private group?
Ask us. Some tours can be arranged for a family or a private group, and the Panama tour runs in July, when schools in the US, Canada and Israel are out for the summer.
How is Shabbat kept on a tour?
Shabbat is a rest day with the local Jewish community: Ohel Shelomo in Kobe, Ahavat Sion in Panama City, the community center in Podgorica. Services and the meals are with the community, and the afternoon is yours.
Are flights included?
No. You book your own flights. We meet you at the airport on arrival and take you back on the last day, so send us your flight times.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend insurance covering cancellation, medical care and luggage, bought soon after you pay your deposit.
