Located 820 meters above sea level where the rolling hills of the Jerusalem pine forest meet the golden Judaean desert, is the sprawling Ramat Rachel Hotel, Congress, and Spa complex.
This four-star deluxe property is a winning combination of luxurious accommodations, outstanding views of Bethlehem, Jerusalem and the Judaean hills and extensive facilities. A short drive from the Old City and the heart of Jerusalem, the hotel serves as a convenient and comfortable base for touring the Holy City and the surrounding sites. The hotel has its roots as a youth hostel built in 1969 by the members of Kibbutz Ramat Rachel to serve groups of Israelis and tourists visiting Israel's capital city.
Today, some thirty years later, the Ramat Rachel Hotel boasts 164 rooms and an exclusive country club and health spa.
A complete conference center including a fully equipped, 300-seat auditorium, lecture rooms, and an awning permanently erected in the hotel's gardens provide ample space for the many seminars, conferences, exhibitions, celebrations, and other events that take place throughout the year.
Guests entering the elegant Ramat Rachel Hotel lobby are greeted by a friendly and attentive reception staff. While it has undergone major modernization and expansion recently, this employee-owned hotel is professionally staffed by kibbutz residents who treat every guest as a member of their extended family.
The Israeli tradition of warm hospitality is expressed in the staff's dedication to service and attention to detail. The hotel's expansive grounds merge with Jerusalem's green belt, a path of natural woods and landscape that surrounds the entire city, making it the largest undeveloped area within the boundaries of Jerusalem.
The hotel is developing a several-kilometer-long walking/running trail that circles the grounds and provides spectacular views of Jerusalem's peripheral neighborhoods, Bethlehem with the Church of the Nativity as its centerpiece, the Old City in all its splendor, and the Judaean desert.
A well known archeological site, containing the remains of an ancient fortress and village, serves as the backdrop for a modern sculpture. The hotel is completely wheelchair accessible with ramps, wide doors, and specially designed rooms.
The Ramat Rachel Hotel has 164 spacious rooms, all with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and some with private terraces. The hotel's VIP rooms are particularly large and come with a whirlpool bath as well as other special amenities.
All of the rooms are equipped with satellite TV, central AC, radio, and a direct dial telephone with voice mail. Nonsmoking, connecting, and wheelchair-accessible rooms are available.
Souvenir hunters will find solutions to all of their gift and personal needs while enjoying the convenience and relaxed atmosphere of the well-stocked boutique in the hotel lobby. Shoppers can choose from a hand-picked selection of high quality gifts and souvenirs including silk clothing, Dead Sea beauty products, entertaining t-shirts, Armenian pottery, Jerusalem glass, and jewelry made by local artists, including the unique jewerly design of Kibbutz member Yael Cohen.
Guests are invited to get ready for a night on the town or a special occasion in the hotel's full service beauty salon. The salon's professional staff pampers its customers with a complete array of up-to-date hair and beauty treatments.
There is a permanent synagogue within the Ramat Rachel complex, with its own ark and flexible seating arrangements. Every effort is made to accommodate the needs of groups and individuals spending holidays or celebrating an event at the hotel.
The hotel provides all the services expected from a luxury hotel including laundry, currency exchange, safe deposit boxes, car rental, facsimile, and photocopying as well as touring information and planning assistance.

In ancient times Jerusalem was considered the center of the world. Nowadays, this unique city is rightly the centerpiece of any visit to Israel, whether as a destination in its own right or as a star attraction of a cultural or religious tour. The birthplace of Judaism and Christianity and one of Islam's four holy cities, Jerusalem has deep significance for nearly every visitor. Where to start? Whether it's the Old City with its dense cluster of religious and historical sites, the wondrously legible Dead Sea Scrolls, or the Mount of Olives, the list of memorable attractions is practically limitless.
But Jerusalem is much greater than the sum of its parts. For many, one visit is simply not enough to fully grasp the experience. Jerusalem residents also claim that their city never fully reveals itself and that its mystery constantly fascinates.
Jerusalem is also a beautiful modern city. The distinctive honey colored Jerusalem stone with which all buildings are faced, glows with extraordinary vibrancy at sunset, making it easy to see why the city is called Jerusalem of Gold. Set high on a series of craggy hilltops, the approach to Jerusalem is always a thrilling experience regardless of how often the journey is repeated. Its climate also sets it apart. Invariably crisp and cool even in Israel's long summers - the city offers an extra measure of welcome to those escaping the humidity and heat of the coastal areas.
Travel back in time along ancient city streets and structures. Visit the many museums, in particular the superb Israel Museum, treasure house of biblical, ethnographic and art collections. You can bargain for spices and carpets in the bazaar, shop for arts and crafts and view the cultural diversity that is so typical of Jerusalem. Concerts, dining, people watching - the variety is endless. All you need is time.
